Toronto, World's Most "Resilient" City

According to a recent research report by Grosvenor, an international real estate development company, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary have been ranked the top 3 most "resilient" cities in a worldwide 50-city list, followed by Chicago, Pittsburgh and Stockholm in 4th, 5th and 6th place. The report concludes the study that measured factors such as climate, environment, infrastructure, governance, predicted population growth and resources. “Canadian cities have a strong combination of low vulnerability and high adaptive capacity,” the report stated. “There is a high level of resource availability, and Canadian cities are well governed and well planned.” Cities ranked lowest included Dhaka, Jakarta and Cairo because of inequality, poor infrastructure and environmental degradation. London, which ranked 18th, suffers increasingly from social tensions from lacking affordable housing.
